Breathing is the first thing we do and the last thing we stop doing. brēT͟H alternates between two faces of that same act: the one that protects itself to keep breathing, and the one that no longer needs to. The back-and-forth between them has something hypnotic about it, like a pulse. A question is left hanging: what air we're given, and how much of it we choose.
